Automatisierte Prüfungen Automated testing

Automated ultrasonic immersion testing

Our well-equipped test lab is available for outsourced offline testing and we will reliably look after all the logistical processes required. You can also appoint us to operate testing systems and machinery in your company, provide the staff required, guarantee the test results are documented clearly and ensure quality management integration.

If you want your workforce to be self-reliant, we will provide training in applications and operation and draw up individual testing specifications and instructions. With our range of services, we can respond flexibly to your needs.

In production plants, where individual parts for example turbine discs or small to medium sized lots of parts are tested non-destructive by means of ultrasonic, it is suggestive that this testing is carried out on an external service basis. For such jobs VOGT Ultrasonics GmbH has available flexible, excellently skilled level II and III NDT-personnel.

The quality of the VOGT-testing equipment guarantees for our customers’ and their purchasers’ acceptance. We use mobile ultrasonic scanners as well as stationary immersion equipment meeting most outstanding requirements.

Cost saving ultrasonic testing can be carried out by the equipment including ScanMaster ultrasonic instruments, testing software incl. visual display and modules flexibly adaptable to the relevant testing technique. The expert execution of the testing jobs well adapted to the particular needs by VOGT offers an utmost degree of safety as regard to your products’ quality proof.

Testing jobs are invoiced either according to expenditure or according to the number of tested parts. If a testing specification as well as a testing instruction are not available, they are defined together with the customer.
If requested a fixed price per part may be agreed upon after test runs.

Local testing

Mobile scan systems offer the possibility to carry out ultrasonic testing at the customer’s premises. The complete ultrasonic immersion system may - if reasonable - be installed at site for a prearranged period to be operated locally by our service personnel. By having the testing systems as well as the personnel available locally at the customer’s premises, the testing may be carried out without causing transport costs for parts or time consuming distances.

By means of this testing system and due to scan automation complexe, rotationally symmetrical or plane parts as well as other forms may be tested on an automated basis and with only little personnel expenditure. The fields of application are manifold. Thus are tested parts for the automobile, aviation and aerospace industry, wind energy, the metal working and plastic industry. Beside volume testing, surfaces of parts are tested as regard to cracks resp. laser-, electrobeam and conventional welding seams.

The rotationally symmetrical parts are tested by means of rotary tables and bar rotator devices. Once set ultrasonic parameter as well as the scan resp. probe positions are memorized in the computer integrated into the testing system, they are immediately available for repeated testing. A new and expensive setting of the testing system is not required. A testing of serial part lots at different times can be carried out quickly without any problems and at low cost.

Several ultrasonic testing tanks and diverse scan mechanics (e.g. portable 2-axis scanner and rod-/ tubeturntable). For rotationally symmetrical parts up to 1500 mm diameter, turn tables are available.

2 – 6 axis scanning mechanics for carrying out 2D up to 2.5 D-scans via teach-in-points for the testing of simple flat up to complex piece part forms.

Testing frequencies 0,3 - 50 MHz

The ultrasonic hardware allows the use of 1 – 8 ultrasonic channels simultaneously for one scan.

Phased Array and TOFD – testing technologies

Multizone Testing, C-Scans and Linescans

During part scanning the ultrasonic signals may be shown online as A- B-, C- and D-scans in accordance with the application and being saved.

A number of software tools are available for the evaluation of data and analysis of the
examination results, such as for example distance- and surface measuring from/to
defects, histogram of amplitudes and time-of-flight data, cross sections and projections of C- and D-scans, continuous zoom, modification of the colour/grey graduation and resolution and many more.

Documentation may be in binary, ASCII code, BMP or pcx-data format. Thus it is ensured
that the examination results may be used for standard PC-applications.

Digital radiology

Digital radiology contains the possibilities of electronic
processing image
data as well as the advantages of the
x-ray method

One important advantage of digital radiology is the
digital provision of film material. In our test lab the testing
of plastics, rubber, ceramic, aluminium, steel or other
materials
can be carried out.

Further advantages of digital radiology are:

  • Fast series accompanying testing by automated testing sequence control
  • Different angle possible
  • Easier detection of inhomogeneities and high detail visibility
  • Improved image analysis due to extended image processing and digital filters
  • Electronic storage and global availability of images

Radiographic testing

Radiographic testing (RT) is an imaging method to display differences in the material and represents a preferred technique for the detection of inner voluminous flaws like inclusions, cracks or lack of fusion. Radiographic testing techniques are likely to be used for the detection of inner flaws and other inner abnormalities of material qualities, which are indicated by an attenuation of gamma- or x-rays. Radiography is mainly used for testing of castings, finding corrosion or for the examination of weld seams.

Computer tomography

Microfocus computed tomography is useful whenever depth information is required for the evaluation of the test object. It allows perpendicular slices to be made and supplies statements about material defects, regarding their type, geometry and position in parts such as:

  • Ceramic parts
  • Cast parts
  • Electronic assemblies

Today image recording and image evaluation of microfocus computed tomography are available in clearly less than one hour - depending on the quality requirement. For this reason it is definately a time-saving alternative compared to previous time-consuming destructive test methods.

Surface crack testing

Our test centre disposes of a wide range of test systems also for automated surface crack testing.

Automated surface crack testing offers the following advantages:

  • Shows defects which are surface opened
  • Flaw detection with fluorescent method up to under 1 µm
